A Fish Living in the Air

In the common sense, a fish cannot survive without water and once it is exposed to air by accident (e.g. drought, fishing), struggling, choking to death with pain seems to be the only result waiting ahead. However, mudskipper, a type of fragile-looking fish, rewrites the fate of its own and chooses to thrive in the air by adapting itself to the new world. That’s a kind of extremely rare bravery the author saw in the main character of this book, Zimo Tong, who was a left-behind child in China, dumped by his parents at the age of 3, continuously abused by his grandparents and their children for 7 years around, staggering forward in the road of life to pursue his dream, belongings and happiness in China and USA while fighting against the incurable disease, vitiligo.
