Chioko Juliette Grevious is a healer, writer, and freedom-dreamer who walks at the crossroads of psychotherapy, public health, and ancestral wisdom. A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of Grounded Roots Family Therapy Collective & Consulting, Inc., she creates sacred spaces where stories, bodies, and spirits are honored.Rooted in the belief that healing extends beyond the individual to include communities, ancestors, and future generations, Chioko weaves together humanistic, relational-cultural, narrative, and somatic traditions with soulfulness and liberation psychology. Through her clinical practice and writing, she uplifts resilience, joy, and collective healing as powerful forms of resistance. Her path has taken her through public health work in Black maternal health, grassroots education, and community-centered clinical practice—always with a commitment to those most impacted by systems of oppression. She is currently a PhD student in Humanistic Clinical Psychology, where her research explores how Black women engage Buddhism as a healing practice against anti-Blackness.When she isn’t writing, hosting her podcast Cocoa Butter and Communion, or holding space for others, Chioko can be found attending concerts with her son, road tripping with her husband, exploring indie bookstores, cheering for the Boston Celtics, listening for her grandmothers’ wisdom, and tending to everyday rituals that connect her to spirit and community.
