It is God’s will and intention that we thoroughly enjoy life, and the best way to enjoy life is to be in good health. Good health is a necessity for anyone who wants a fulfilled life. This is coming from a lived experience. I remembered when I went through the valley of the shadow of death in the guise of sickness many years ago. I can tell you that it is not an experience I would wish on an adversary. That period was one of the worst chapters of my existence. I have shared that journey in many other books, so I will desist from detailing it here, but I can tell you that it was a horrible experience. That experience not only helped shape my reality concerning bodily limitations but also helped me to be more empathetic towards people struggling with their health. When Jesus walked among us, He ensured that sickness in all its manifestations was adequately dealt with. He healed those who were spiritually sick (His main mission on earth), He healed those who were mentally and emotionally compromised, and He healed those who were physically ravaged by disease. The distaste that Jesus had for disease is well captured in the Holy Bible. This is to inform us of God’s will for us.Looking at the world through a clinical lens, it is quite obvious and evident that our world (most importantly the people) is in need of Jesus, the Great Physician. The level of spiritual, emotional and physical corruption of the human person is on an epic proportion, as people all over the world are struggling in one way or the other. While some are seeking deliverance and restoration, albeit from the wrong channels, many have given up on any kind of solution. To them, sickness is part of life, and there is no point trying to ‘run away from one’s destiny’.In this book, with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, I would like to give hope to whoever has given up on hope as regards healing. If healing were unnecessary, Jesus would not have dedicated a huge part of His ministry to it, and one of the crucial gifts of the Spirit would not have been the gift of healing. Healing, in every area of human life, is a necessity because ill health will not only limit the person but also frustrate the plans and purpose of God’s agenda in the life of that individual and in the lives of those he or she has been sent to. Imagine a world where there is no remedy for diseases; such a world will reek of death, and death puts an end to purpose. Sickness and death came into this world through the disobedience of one man, but through the obedience of another Man, healing and life became our new reality. I put it to you that the reason many are giving up on healing is because they have not been introduced to the Great Physician.God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to reconcile mankind to Him, and one of the means of accomplishing this is restoring our broken spirits, bodies and souls. Sickness is an aberration, and it can be dealt with decisively with the help of the Great Physician. If you are sick or know someone who is, this book can be a great resource in bringing hope and restoration. The book follows the established order of articles, exhortations, confessions, prayer points, hymns, appendixes, and testimonies. All of which are engineered for your spiritual benefit. As needful as this book is, it remains a supplement and not a substitute for the Holy Bible. You must be prepared to read, study and meditate on the Word of God as we journey together in these forty days.As you devotedly invest your time and energy into this year’s Mercy Rain, I pray that your life will be enriched in every area and that you receive and enjoy divine healing in that particular area where it is needed, in Jesus’ name.
